American track and field athlete Noah Lyles expressed his anticipation as he prepares for his first track meet of 2025, the New Balance Boston Indoor Grand Prix. The event is scheduled to take place on February 2 in Massachusetts.
Lyles also started his 2024 season at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix where he competed in the 60m distance. He clinched top spot in the race after clocking a run-time of 6.44 seconds. As per reports, he will be running the same distance in February.
With just a few weeks left till Lyles's return to professional racing, he was spotted on the track for his training regime. He took to his Instagram handle to share a video of his running session on his stories.
"5 weeks till Boston," Lyles remarked in the caption.
The 27-year-old hasn't competed in any meets since the 200m Olympic final in August where he bagged a bronze medal. While he snubbed the Diamond League meets after the quadrennial games, he was recently seen racing against YouTuber IShowSpeed for a charity event.
Besides Lyles, other Paris Olympic gold medalists such as Julien Alfred and Grant Halloway will also grace the event in Boston.
Noah Lyles shares his opinion on breaking Usain Bolt's world records
Noah Lyles recently shared his thoughts on breaking Usain Bolt's world records in the coming years.
During his appearance on YouTuber Mr. Beast's Beyond the Records podcast, Lyles claimed that he is the fastest man in the world currently as he is the 100m Olympic champion. Moreover, he also mentioned that he is close to breaking the Jamaican's 200m record. He said (at 8:07):
"I’m the world’s fastest man, so you get it with the title of being the Olympic champion. Technically, the world’s fastest man, and the fastest man alive is Usain Bolt. I’m knocking on the door of the 200m. If it was that easy, I’d have done it five years ago."
Lyles is currently the third fastest man in the 200m discipline and the fastest in United States with a run-time of 19.31 seconds that he clocked at the 2022 World Championships. He is behind two Jamaican athletes, Bolt (19.19 seconds) and Yohan Blake (19.26 seconds).
