Gabby Thomas clinched the gold medal in the women's 200m at the London Diamond League a week before the commencement of the Paris Olympics 2024. The American athlete won in the final moments of the race after clocking 21.82s.
Thomas competed and beat some of the greats like Julian Alfred and Dina Asher-Smith in the British capital for the 200m title. After trailing behind in the first curve, Thomas started pulling toward Alfred and Asher-Smith, who led the race initially.
The 27-year-old managed to pull through and win the race by a close margin. In the process, Thomas broke the meet record. On the other hand, Julian Alfred finished second and created a new national record with a personal time of 21.86s. British athlete Dina Asher-Smith clinched the bronze medal with a time of 22.02s, marking her season's best ahead of the Paris Olympics.

Gabby Thomas dominated the women's 200m finals at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials and won the title, thus qualifying for her second consecutive Olympic Games. The American athlete clocked 21.81s in the finals to seal her spot in the U.S. Olympic Team.
She took to Instagram to share her thoughts on making her second Olympic Team.
"Feeling a lot of emotions. I know a lot of people expected this for me, but this time feels different. These past few years I’ve experienced what it really means to be a professional runner- pushing through injury, competing through immense pressure, comparison, and being “perfect” year after year. This one was special," she wrote.
