Simone Biles and Suni Lee reacted to the newest bedazzled Gk Elite leotards that the US gymnastic girls will wear at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The leotards have been designed to pay homage to the City of Lights, Paris, featuring around 47,000 Swarovski crystals. The five Paris-bound gymnasts can choose from eight leotard styles to match their vibe.
Biles, the 2016 Rio Olympic all-around gold medalist, will look to regain her position at the Paris Olympics after a turbulent stint at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Lee, who stepped up in place of Biles in Tokyo, swept the all-around title in the 2020 Games.
Fast forward to now, the teammates and rivals would again challenge each other on the Paris gymnastic mat. At the 2024 US Olympic Trials, Simone Biles and Suni Lee scored 117.225 and 111.625, finishing first and second, respectively.
Before they could step foot in Paris, Gk Elite dropped the most gorgeous leotards for them to wear across the multiday event. On the Today Show, the five Olympic-qualified gymnasts, Biles, Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezyl Rivera, were in awe as they unboxed the embellished leotards, as posted on the USA Gymnastics' Instagram handle.
Simone Biles shared the video in her story and captioned it:
"a look at our OLYMPIC LEOS!!!" paired with a couple of fire emojis.
USA Gym posted a carousel of photos featuring the gymnasts in the newly launched leotards. Suni Lee shared the photo series in her Instagram story and expressed ecstasy.
"obsessed @gkelite !!!!!"
Suni Lee and Simone Biles will mark their comebacks on the Olympic stage after staying away from gymnastics for a significant time. Biles was in a two-year-long hiatus after she faced 'twisties' at the 2020 Summer Games.
Since the beginning of 2023, Lee battled kidney issues, which plagued most of her competitive performances last year. She made her comeback at the 2024 American Classic with only the Paris Olympics in foresight.
Simone Biles is ready to take off on the 'redemption tour' with her girls
Out of the five girls who qualified for Paris, four of them already competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. However, their time in Tokyo was wobbly, resulting in the loss of gold podiums. After the conclusion of the 2024 US Olympic Trials, the girls looked confident about sweeping the team gold in Paris, besides individual wins.
"This is definitely our redemption tour. I feel like we all have more to give, and our Tokyo performances weren't the best. We weren't under the best circumstances either. But, I feel like we have a lot of weight on our shoulders to go out there and prove that we're better athletes, we're more mature, we're smarter, we're more consistent," said the four-time Olympic gold medalist. The Paris Olympics would be an opportunity for Biles to extend her gold medal tally to five, whereas Lee will look to defend her all-around Olympic title.
