LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne recently reacted to her teammate Kailin Chio's glimpses from the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad event. The competition featured the Tigers, Oklahoma, California and Utah among which Dunne and Chio's side finished second with 197.650 points.
Along with Aleah Finnegan, Chio was one of the two LSU gymnasts featured in all four apparatuses during the event. She secured an all-around score of 39.625, including a 9.950 in vaults and 9.925 in floor exercises. Her other scores were 9.900 in bars and 9.850 in the beam balance.
Just a couple of days after the event, Chio took to her Instagram handle to share some of her pictures from her second collegiate meet for the Tigers. She wrote:
"getting 1% better every day"
Chio's collegiate senior, Olivia Dunne reacted to the post and wrote a two-word comment.
"MY SHAYLA" she wrote
Dunne also competed in this quad meet held on Saturday where she participated in the beam balance (9.775), floors (9.850) and bars (9.725) events.
Olivia Dunne lauded Kailin Chio for her performances in LSU's 2025 season opener
Fifth-year LSU senior Olivia Dunne was in high praise for freshman, Kailin Chio after their season opener against Iowa State. Chio competed in the all-around event during the meet and posed a score of 39.575 along with Aleah Finnegan who chipped in with a score of 39.725.
She had scores of 9.925 in the floor exercises and beam balance. Her impressive outing contributed to the Tigers' victory.
Impressed by these performances, Dunne had some kind words for Chio's mindset. She said (via LSU Sports YouTube at 5:27):
"Kailin (Chio) is incredible, I think that she came in with such a great mindset and she competes like a vet and I really admire the way she trained all preseason, it was just so admirable even from a fifth-year senior's perspective."
Before her collegiate career, Kailin Chio also competed for the US national team during the 2021 Junior Pan American Championships.
