Olivia Dunne, Masai Russell, Chloe Bailey, and others react to Jordan Chiles' debut feature in the 2025 Swimsuit issue of Sports Illustrated. She wore an asymmetric ocean blue beach wear after a series of post-Olympic fashion exploits.
At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Chiles clinched team gold and was upgraded from her fifth position to third in the floor exercise after her team appealed for a score change. However, after the Romanian Gymnastics Federation pointed out to the CAS that the appeal missed the deadline, Chiles was ordered to return her medal.
Since her Paris Olympic heartbreak, the double Olympian has received immense support from her fellow athletes and fans. She also appealed for the return of her medal to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court. Amid the bronze medal ordeal, Jordan Chiles turned heads with her fashion escapades, especially at the New York Fashion Week and brand shoots.
On November 11, 2024, Sports Illustrated announced Chiles as its newest cover athlete for the 2025 Swimsuit issue. In an Instagram post, the American sports magazine showed off their new female cover athlete in ocean blue asymmetric swimwear, maneuvering mid-air.
"Say hello to SI Swimsuit’s newest athlete feature for the 2025 issue — Jordan Chiles!" the caption read.
In awe of the feature, LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne wrote:
"Oh yea"
Masai Russell, the Olympic champion in 100m hurdles, chimed in and appreciated Chiles with a couple of heart-eyed emojis. Singer Chloe Bailey also joined in the admirers list with a heart-eyed emoji.
Chiles was also part of the US women's gymnastics team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, winning the silver medal in the team competition.
Jordan Chiles on her bronze medal heartbreak - "I know that we were right in everything that we were doing"
Jordan Chiles graced the Today Show recently, her first TV appearance after the Paris Games. In the interview, she talked about the difficult times she faced after CAS ordered her to return the medal. However, she insisted on speaking her truth since whatever she and her team did was not wrong.
"Honestly, it’s been really, really hard just to comprehend everything that’s been happening. I’ve been able to finally now feel comfortable in a way to talk about what has been happening, it’s just been a difficult time for myself and I’m ready to speak on my truth."
She further noted:
I think now, it’s just the support that’s been around me that I’ve been like, ‘OK, I can’t control anything that’s happening on the outside, I can only control what my truth is, and I know what the truth is, and I know that we were right in everything that we were doing.”
The floor bronze medal went back to the Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu, who initially earned third place behind Simone Biles and Rebeca Andrade.
