American gymnast Leanne Wong recently reacted to her foundation's food donation program the past weekend. This comes just a day after the Gators defeated No. 9 Ole Miss 24-17 on Saturday (November 23).
This was the Billy Napier-coached side's second consecutive victory in the SEC Conference after going through successive defeats against Georgia and Texas earlier in the month. Despite this victory, the Gators are currently tenth in their conference.
Being a Gator herself, Wong hyped up this victory and shared a reel of her foundation, the Leanne Wong Foundation, on her stories. In the post, Wong said the leftover food from the match day fed approximately 600 people. The caption in her story read:
"still celebrating our gator wins 🐊 just a few hundred pounds of food feeding over 600 people @gracemarketplace - thank you @gap.uf."
Leanne Wong has been a notable name in the Florida Gators gymnastics team ever since she joined the collegiate program in 2022. She has won six individual NCAA titles so far in her collegiate career, including a gold in the uneven bars apparatus in 2024.
Leanne Wong spoke about representing Team USA at the 2024 Swiss Cup
Leanne Wong recently shared her feelings about competing as part of Team USA for the 2024 Swiss Cup scheduled to be held in December. Oklahoma Sooners gymnast Fuzzy Benas will compete alongside Wong during this annual gymnastics meet.
In an interview with Olympics.com, Wong stated that she was honored to represent the USA one more time in her career. She also shed light on the 'fun' format of this event. Wong said:
"Having another opportunity to represent Team USA… it’s just been super honoring since 2017. It is kind of a fun competition, and I thought it would just be something different that I’ve never done. “It’s not a typical four-event meet format, so it’s like, ‘Alright, let’s do it.’”
However, the event didn't go as planned for Wong. She and her partner were eliminated from the first round of the tournament after scoring 24.900 points.
Besides the 2024 Swiss Cup, Wong has also participated in numerous other tournaments with the US national team. She won back-to-back gold medals as part of the team that won the team exercises event in the 2022 and 2023 World Gymnastics Championships. Moreover, in the 2021 event, she clinched a silver and bronze medal in the all-around and floor exercise respectively.
