Alfred showcased her dominance in the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she became the Olympic champion of the 100m dash, clocking 10.72s. She bested Sha'carri Richardson and Melissa Jefferson, who claimed 10.87s and 10.92s, respectively, and with this, Alfred became the first Saint Lucian athlete to win an Olympic medal. Following the victory, the athlete was warmly welcomed by St. Lucians and was appointed as the tourism ambassador for Saint Lucia after her achievements.

Julien Alfred on receiving a heartwarming welcome in Saint Lucia

Julien Alfred opened up about her welcome in her country after her Paris Olympics campaign at the Bowerman Presentation. She revealed that she received immense outpourings of love from her people. It was very motivating for her. Expressing her feelings about the gesture, she said:

"I was overwhelmed. I was just bombarded with lots of love on the plane, at the airport by my fellow St. Lucians. Just stepping off the plane, and the welcome I received is truly motivating for me. You know I really love my country, and how they continue not to disappoint me."

Alfred had a very successful journey at the 2024 Summer Games, and in an interview with Olympics.com, she made her feelings known about the triumph:

“I’m a damn proud Lucian forever and always. It’s always a pleasure representing my country on the global stage and putting my flag on the map — my country on the map — is always an amazing feeling. The sacrifice to leave my family at a tender age, the age of 14, to just chase my dreams, it was definitely a tough decision for me.
Also my dad passing away in 2013. I actually stopped track & field during that time, just grieving for him. And injuries. Injuries have definitely affected my journey as well. But I mean, it made me stronger."

Alfred also won the 100m dash at the Brussels Diamond League.
