World and Olympic champion Karsten Warholm has established himself as one of the best 400m hurdlers of all-time. Recently, the Norwegian gave fans a glimpse of his training for the upcoming 2025 season.

Warholm had a fantastic 2024. He kicked his season off running indoors, winning silver in the 400m event at the Glasgow World Indoor Championships. He made his hurdles debut in May, winning the Trond Mohn Games and clinching the 400m hurdles title at the European Athletics Championships. He also claimed second-place finishes at the Oslo and Monaco Diamond League meets.

Warholm then competed at the Paris Olympics, where he was unable to defend his 400m hurdles title, settling for silver instead. He wrapped up his season with an appearance at the Silesia Kamila Skolimowska Memorial, where he won gold in the 400m hurdles.

Now, Warholm is preparing for his 2025 season, and recently took to Instagram to give fans a glimpse of himself training on track. He captioned the video,

“Back in the sun running some hurdles.”

Warholm enters the 2025 season as the defending World Champion and will be keen to retain his title later this year.

While fine-tuning his technique on the track, Karsten Warholm has also been working hard at the gym. Taking to Instagram on January 7, the Norwegian shared a video of himself working on a trap bar loaded with 400 kg of weight. He captioned the video,

“Same dog. Same tricks. 400 kg with some help from my friends.”

Over the course of his career, Warholm has established himself as one of the best 400m hurdlers to grace the sport. He first rose to fame in 2013, when he won eight gold medals at the Norwegian Youth Indoors Championships. A few years later, he won gold in the 400m hurdles at the 2017 European U23 Championships.

The 28-year-old's first big performance at the senior level came later that same year, when he was crowned World Champion in the 400m hurdles. He successfully defended this title in 2019, before going on to win gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, setting a world record of 45.94 en route to the top of the podium.

After Tokyo, Warholm was crowned the World Champion for the third time in 2023. The Norwegian will be gunning to retain this honour at the 2025 World Championships.
