Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey are two of the most successful American gymnasts of the current generation. After dominating the competition in international meets, the duo recently reunited in California as they prepare to begin their NCAA season.
Chiles and Carey were teammates at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the 2022 Liverpool World Championships, and the 2024 Paris Olympics. At the Tokyo Games, Chiles led Team USA to silver, while Carey won an individual gold on the floor.
At the World Championships, both the gymnasts helped USA win the team event. While Carey won gold in the vault and bronze on the floor, Chiles walked away with silver in both events. At the Paris Olympics, the duo played a crucial part in Team USA’s gold medal campaign.
Alongside their impeccable performance in international meets, Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles have also excelled on the collegiate circuit. In the NCAA, Carey represents the Oregon State University, while Chiles competed for the UCLA Bruins. Recently, the two former teammates reunited in California ahead of the American Gold Collegiate Gymnastics Classic.
The official account of Oregon State Gymnastics shared a snap of their reunion, writing,

Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles on how NCAA impacted their elite careers
Both Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles have led impressive careers in the NCAA. Carey is a four-time silver-medalist in the national championships. Meanwhile, Chiles was the 2023 NCAA champion on the uneven bars and floor exercise, and a silver medalist in the all-around.
Both the gymnasts have credited their collegiate journey for the success on the international levels.
“I think [NCAA] really made me fall back in love with gymnastics. Tokyo was obviously really awesome for me, but also really hard at the same time. Going to college brought me out of my shell more, gave me a little bit more confidence. It just made me love gymnastics and realize I had more to give,” Carey told Olympics.com.
Adding on to this, Chiles explained that NCAA helped her mature as an athlete, saying,
“NCAA experience has played a huge part. Just seeing the difference in my maturity as an athlete, and also as a human, definitely helped me. NCAA is all about high energy. You’re one team, one goal. With elite, it’s a little different, but keeping that same mindset definitely helped because going back into practice at [World Champions Centre], I was like, ‘Guys, we’re going to do this. We’re going to go out there, and we’re going to have fun.’”
Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles will begin their 2025 NCAA season at the American Gold Collegiate Gymnastics Classic on Saturday, January 4, as UCLA, Oregon State, and California face off in a tri-meet. The meet will not be televised, but fans can follow the live score on calbears.com.
