In the World Aquatics Championships that took place in 2019 in Gwangju, South Korea, Titmus secured her first acclaimed feat. According to “GluteGuard”, the swimmer shared her diet plans and how she avoided gluten during the Championship period.
“So, I was living off pretty much plain white rice, baby tomatoes, and fried eggs, breakfast, lunch, and dinner for ten days straight. The tiniest bit of gluten can cause me to become quite bloated, quite fatigued, which is challenging as an athlete, especially as a swimmer. We had the World Championships in Korea in 2019, and we were staying in the village and there was a lot of food that had sauces and deep fried, and I was just too scared to really touch anything. It worked. I mean, I became the World Champion for the first time.”
Ariarne Titmus further mentioned that such a period can be “challenging” and that it is better to steer clear of any untimely issues. So, she avoided foods that could have gluten in them and therefore could have posed a challenge to her body. Titmus became the world champion and defeated the ace swimmer Katie Ledecky.
