The 2024 Paris Diamond League witnessed extraordinary achievements with two world records shattered at the Charlety Stadium on July 7, 2024. Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Faith Kipyegon delivered record-breaking performances by breaking the world records in the women’s high jump and 1500m events.

The 2023 World champion Mahuchikh made a huge clearance of 2.10m to shatter the high jump world record. Meanwhile, Kipyegon showed her brilliance once again as she broke her own world record in the 1500m distance with a sensational run of 3:49.04. The women’s 1500m also saw new Oceanic and British national record performances by Jessica Hull and Laura Muir who clocked 3:50.83 and 3:53.79.

Algeria’s Djamel Sedjati clocked the third-fastest 800m time of all time with a phenomenal 1:41.56 to win the event at the Paris Diamond League. The race also saw the World Championships silver medalist Emmanuel Wanyonyi and the European champion Gabriel Tual dip under the 1:42 mark, clocking times of 1:41.58 and 1:41.61 respectively.

Meanwhile, Mondo Duplantis, Alison dos Santos, Valarie Allman, Marileidy Paulino, and Winfred Yavi, emerged as the winners in the men’s pole vault, 400m hurdles, women’s discus throw, 400m, and 3000m steeplechase at the Paris Diamond League.

However, Malaika Mihambo and Ivana Španović had a disappointing outing at the Paris Diamond League as they finished seventh and tenth respectively, registering 6.60m and 6.17m as their best jumps. The three-time Diamond League champion Jakub Vadlejch came third in the javelin throw with 85.04, while Julian Weber won the event with an 85.91.
