On Day 5 of the 2024 Paris Olympics, United States athletes displayed brilliant performances across multiple events, including swimming, cycling, and canoeing. The USA athletes added four more medals to their tally, which included one gold, two silver and one bronze on July 31.
The United States secured their fifth gold medal of the 2024 Paris Olympics courtesy of Katie Ledecky's phenomenal performance in the women’s 1500m freestyle. Ledecky not only earned her eighth Olympic gold medal but also recorded the eighth-fastest time ever recorded in the event.
The other top performers for the United States from Day 5 of the Paris Olympics were Perris Benegas (Cycling), Torri Huske (Swimming) and Evy Leibfarth (Canoeing).
On Day 6 (August 1) of the Paris Olympics, the USA athletes will aim for more gold medal victories as the women’s individual all-around finals and team foil medal matches are scheduled to take place. These events will feature prominent athletes like five-time Olympic champion Simone Biles, 2020 Tokyo all-around gold medalist Suni Lee, two-time foil individual Olympic champion Lee Kiefer, and silver medalist fencer Lauren Scruggs.
Kate Douglass, Lilly King and Regan Smith are other prominent athletes to watch for on August 1 at the 2024 Paris Olympics. In rowing, USA athletes will also compete in multiple medal rounds, including the men’s double sculls, men’s four, and women’s four final A.
