Paris Olympics 2024 Day 7: Medal Events for Team USA on 2 Aug ft. Caeleb Dressel in 50m freestyle, Nico Young in 10,000m

The United States athletes had a remarkable Day 6 (August 1) at the 2024 Paris Olympics as they climbed to second place in the overall medal tally by winning four gold medals. These victories were achieved by Simone Biles in the women’s all-around individual gymnastics, Kate Douglass in the women’s 200m breaststroke, the women’s foil fencing team, and the men’s rowing four team.

In the women’s all-around, Biles collected her second all-around individual gold medal, scoring a phenomenal 59.131 points at the Paris Olympics, having previously won it back in the 2016 Rio Olympics. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics all-around champion Suni Lee came third at the quadrennial games in the event with 56.465 points.

Meanwhile, in Swimming, Kate Douglass won the gold in the 200m breaststroke in an American record time of 2:19.24 in the finals. This was the USA’s fourth gold in a Swimming event at the Paris Olympics.

The women’s foil team, consisting of Lee Kiefer, Lauren Scruggs, Jacqueline Dubrovich, and Maia Weintraub, defeated the Italian team to secure another gold medal for the USA. Meanwhile, the men's four rowing team, featuring Justin Best, Liam Corrigan, Michael Grady, and Nick Mead, also contributed to the gold medal count with the win.

On Day 7 of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Caeleb Dressel, Phoebe Bacon, Regan Smith, and Carson Foster in Swimming; Casey Kaufhold, Brady Ellison in Archery; Grant Fisher, Woody Kincaid, Nico Young in Athletics - 10,000m; and Sagen Maddalena in Shooting are a few athletes to watch out for in the medal events.
