The second day of the Paris Olympics 2024 witnessed Team USA win its first individual gold medal of the campaign. After winning five medals on the opening day, the USA added over seven medals on the second day of the competition.
Team USA is now standing in third position on the overall medal tally with a total of 12 medals. Three of the twelve are gold, six silver, and three bronze medals.
Torri Huske delivered the USA its first individual gold medal of the Paris Olympics 2024 in the women’s 100m butterfly. Before the end of the Olympic day, Lee Kiefer won the second individual gold medal for the USA in the women's foil individual event.

Nic Fink shocked a stacked field in the men's 100m breaststroke at the Paris Olympics, winning silver medal ahead of China's Qun Haiyang. The 31-year-old became the oldest first-time medalist from the US since 1904, clocking a time of 59.04 for the silver medal. Italy's Nicolo Martinenghi won the gold in 59.03s.

Lee Kiefer won the gold medal in the women's foil event at the Paris Olympics 2024. She defeated fellow American Lauren Scruggs with a score of 15-6 to win the USA's second individual gold medal of the Games. Kiefer had won the event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as well.

Lauren Scruggs was competing in her maiden Olympic Games at the Paris Olympics 2024 and was not even expected to qualify for the finals. However, she beat world No.1 Arianna Erigo in a major upset and set up a gold medal match with Lee Keifer to guarantee herself a silver medal.

Torri Huske was another American athlete not expected to win what she has won at the Paris Olympics. The 21-year-old beat the Olympic and world record holder Gretchen Walsh to win the gold medal in the women's 100m butterfly finals. She clocked a time of 55.59 to beat Walsh by 0.04 seconds.

Gretchen Walsh was the overwhelming favorite for the 100m butterfly gold but finished behind fellow American Torri Huske. She settled for silver in 59.63 after breaking the Olympic record on the opening day of the competition with a time of 55.38s.

Carson Foster won his maiden Olympic medal on Day 2 of the Paris Olympics. He clocked a time of 4:08.85 to take the bronze medal in the men's 400m Individual medley. France's Leon Marchand won gold in an Olympic record time of 4:02.95.

Haley Batten won the USA's first silver medal in mountain biking at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Despite suffering a puncture earlier in the race, she was able to recover and secure a podium finish. The gold was won by Pauline Ferrand-Prevot.
