Day 3 of the Paris Olympics 2024 was a historic occasion for the USA men’s gymnastics team who won their first medal in 16 years. The team had to fight hard for a bronze medal in a nerve-wracking final which also saw overwhelming favorites China get upstaged by Japan for the gold medal.
Swimming continued to bring medals for Team USA on day 3 of the Paris Olympics 2024 with Ryan Murphy and Luke Hobson earning bronze in the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle finals. Katie Grimes and Emma Weyant settled for silver and bronze in the women's 400m IM as Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh won her first gold.
Fencing also saw Team USA winning a medal as Nick Itkin secured a bronze in the individual foil competition. The USA secured its first medals in skateboarding with Jagger Eaton and Nyjah Huston winning silver and bronze in the men's street finals.
Team USA won a total of eight medals on day 3 of the Olympic Games. While none of them was a gold medal, the USA still leads the overall medal race with 20 medals. However, Japan stands at the top of the table table for now with six gold medals.
How many medals can Team USA expect on Day 4 of the Paris Olympics 2024?
Team USA will have a gold medal guaranteed on day 4 of the Paris Olympics as the women's team takes center stage in the gymnastics finals. Led by Simone Biles, the team is the overwhelming favorite for a gold medal over Brazil and China.
Men's 800m freestyle final will be another event where Team USA will expect a gold medal with Bobby Finke as the defending champion in the event. Finke doesn't have much competition and even if he isn't at his best, he should be returning with a silver medal.
Team USA will also be expecting a gold medal in the women's 100m backstroke finals. Regan Smith and Katherine Berkoff are the American swimmers competing in the event, and with Smith as the world record holder in the event, she would be an overwhelming favorite to earn the gold medal.
The USA will also be competing for a medal in the men's 4x200m freestyle relay. While they are not the top favorites, the American quartet will have a chance to win the gold. Nonetheless, a top-3 finish is almost guaranteed for them.
