Leanne Wong reveals the story behind being known as the gymnast with a bow
Leanne Wong opened up about how the bow became her signature accessory following the podium training on the first day of the 2024 U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials. In an interview with FOX 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul, she revealed the story behind it, saying:
“Yeah, I guess I kind of became known as the gymnast with the bow in 2018 when I first began wearing them to every practice and competition. But, it actually started from a high school elective class cuz throughout my Elementary and high school years.” (3:00 onwards)
She added:
“I always left school early since the third grade and I only did my core classes in the morning and then did online classes and summer classes in the summer and at night so after I completed all the electives in my school district. I actually had to go outside of the school district to find more electives. So, I found the fashion interior design class and that's where my bow was invented.”
Notably, she founded ‘Leanne Wong Bowtique’ in December 2021, which has now expanded and sells signature and handmade hair bows, leotards, and apparel.
