"Perfect pair" - Suni Lee on Stephen Nedoroscik and his partner Rylee Arnold's performance in Dancing With the Stars

Suni Lee made her Dancing With the Stars pick, fellow gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik, and his partner Rylee Arnold, appreciating them for their phenomenal performances on the DWTS stage. Lee competed at the Paris Olympics after a tough year, having dealt with a rare kidney issue in 2023.

She clinched the all-around title at her debut Olympic edition in Tokyo, becoming the first American of Asian descent to lift the honor. She had a successful NCAA career with Auburn University but had to end it prematurely in 2023 due to a rare kidney issue. Her health struggles also forced her to sit out of major competitions the past year.

Marking her return at the 2024 Winter Cup, the Olympic gold medalist advanced to the Paris Olympic finals, persevering despite the odds. She won gold as part of the US women's gymnastics team and won bronze medals in the all-around and uneven bars.

After the Games, she attended Dancing With the Stars season 33's premier night, where her fellow American Stephen Nedoroscik headlined the celebrity roster alongside his partner, Rylee Arnold. The pommel horse bronze medalist captured the attention of several fans, including Lee, who called him and Arnold the 'perfect pair'.

"Yes so I went to first show, but he is doing absolutely amazing. Him and Rylee are like the perfect pair. I'm so excited to watch them for the rest of the season, they're killing it," she said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. (0:21)

Nedoroscik, the gymnast who impressed the crowd with his calm demeanor and pommel horse skills, performed 'Jive' on Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now' on the premiere night of DWTS.

Suni Lee participated in the 30th season of Dancing With the Stars, where she partnered with Sasha Farber, Simone Biles, and Mary Lou Retton's former DWTS partner. Lee impressed the judges with her first 'Jive' performance on STAY, which earned her seven from each of the four judges.

After her performance, she admitted feeling nervous beyond words, a feeling different than the one she felt at the Olympics.

"Competing at the Olympics is probably the most nerve-wracking thing I’ve ever gone through. But coming to ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ I’m freaking out. ... I’m so nervous." (via Olympics.com)

She also highlighted the difference between dancing and gymnastics and broke the misconception of people who thought she could dance.

"I don’t know how to dance. People always assume that I would be a really good dancer, because of gymnastics, but it’s like completely different.”

Suni Lee was eliminated in the ninth round, after performing Foxtrot on "Haven't Met You Yet" and Contemporary on "Gravity".
