Preparing for the Paris Olympics 2024, Noah Lyles has chosen himself to run the 4x400m relay for the United States at the French Games, leaving out the 400m national champion Quincy Hall from the pack.

Prior to the US Olympic Trials, Lyles had expressed his wish of winning four gold medals at the Paris Olympics. He had said that he wanted to run the 4x400m relay at the upcoming quadrennial event alongside his marquee 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relays. He even participated in the 4x400m relay at the 2024 World Indoor Championships in March, but his selection became controversial following the American team's defeat to Belgium at the event.

However, the Florida-based sprinter redeemed himself at the US Olympic trials after ensuring his qualification for the 33rd edition of the Olympic Games in Paris. He won both the 100m and 200m finals at the trials held in Hayward Field Stadium in Eugene to secure his ticket to his second Summer Games.

In a recent turn of events, Noah Lyles appeared on the Track World News podcast, where he opened up about his Paris preparations and also talked about running 4x400m for his team at the upcoming Olympic Games. His lineup for the French Games included Chris Bailey in the lead-off leg, Lyles himself in the second leg, Michael Norman in the third, and Rai Benjamin in the anchor leg.

"Personally I would want second leg but I also know that Rai [Benjamin] also wants second leg but I feel that Rai is our best finisher because I don't know why he has it in him, he's our best finisher. So, I put me then I put Michael Norman and then I put Rai Benjamin and that would be my 4x4" he said via Erin Brown's X post.

Noah Lyles was criticized for his strange remarks about 23-year-old Jamaican runner Kishane Thompson, who clocked the world lead time of 9.77 seconds to secure his ticket to the Paris Olympics 2024.

After Thompson's qualification, Lyles said:

"I hope he stays injured."

However, the reigning triple world champion cleared the air on his statement and said his comments were due to Thompson's history with injuries.

"When we were in the interview and they set out how fast he ran I said, "I hope he stays injured" because I know that he's had a hard history with injuries, and that every time that he runs fast he usually has to be taken off because he's usually hurt" he said via Track World News podcast [27:04 onwards].

Noah Lyles added that he was happy that Kishane Tompson is continuing his incredible form and is able to display his full potential.
