Michael Phelps and his third son Maverick flaunted matching Nike Kobe 8 Protro 'Venice Beach' sneakers on their day out. Maverick is the former swimmer's third son after Boomer and Beckett.

Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympian in history with 23 Olympic gold medals in his repertoire. The former long-course world record holder in the 100-meter butterfly, 200-meter butterfly, 200-meter freestyle, 200-meter individual medley, and 400-meter individual medley amassed 82 wins in major long-course competitions. The 39-year-old retired from competitive swimming after the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Though still associated with the sporting domain, Phelps has more time to invest in his family after retirement. He married Nicole in a private ceremony on June 13, 2016, and hosted a destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on October 29. The couple share four sons, Boomer, Beckett, Maverick, and Nico.

Often posting about his sons on social media, Phelps recently snapped his and his third son Maverick's matching Nike Kobe 8 Protro 'Venice Beach' sneakers on his Instagram handle.

Michael and Nicole Phelps welcomed Maverick on September 9, 2019. The former took to his Instagram to post a family photo, featuring Boomer and Beckett as well, looking at their newest sibling in awe.

"Family of 5! Welcome @mavericknphelps to the world! Born 9-9-19. Mama and baby are healthy and the boys are pumped to be big bros!" the caption read. (September 11, 2019)

The same picture in Nicole's Instagram handle was paired with a loving caption, asserting her excitement to walk through life surrounded by men.

"He instantly has stolen all of our hearts and keeps me an ecstatic mommy of boys I can’t wait to walk this journey surrounded by my men."

Since the 28-time Olympic medalist struggled with depression over the years, he didn't want his boys to feel the need to suppress their emotions. Shedding light on alternating the narrative for the coming generation, he said:

"Let's just be ourselves and ... voice our struggles and emotions that we're going through instead of compartmentalizing them. I want to create that generational shift where instead of compartmentalizing and shoving these things down, we're opening up and talking about them," he said in an interview with the Today Show in December 2023.

Revealing the ways of channeling emotions, he further added:

"We implemented the 'lion breath' with them a couple of years back. The lion breath is basically just a deep breath and you get to roar as loud as you can."

Michael Phelps' family accompanied him to the Paris Olympics 2024 with his youngest son Nico stealing the spotlight in several sporting arenas.
