Olivia Dunne recently posed in a National Hockey League (NHL) New Jersey Devils jersey ahead of the team's matchup against the New York Rangers. The teams are set to face off on Monday at the Prudential Center.
Ahead of the matchup, the LSU Tigers gymnastics star took to Instagram to share a glimpse of herself in a New Jersey Devils jersey, pairing it with black jeans. On her Instagram stories, she used a wry smile cat emoji and captioned it:
“@njdevils😼”
Although it’s unclear whether she will be attending the event or posted the image to show her support for the team, Olivia Dunne previously attended an NHL game between the New Jersey Devils and Detroit Red Wings on December 28, 2023, where she cheered for the Devils. She shared glimpses from the game on her Instagram handle with the caption:
“Put me in coach”
A few days ago, Dunne graduated from the Louisiana State University (LSU) as she received her bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies at one of the commencement ceremonies held in the LSU campus.
Olivia Dunne opens up on balancing her roles as student and athlete at LSU, embracing business-like mindset, and handling online trolls
Olivia Dunne weighed in on her approach to balancing her roles as a student and athlete and how she embraces a business-like mindset. In an interaction with Flau'jae Johnson on Best of Both Worlds (18:33), she said:
“I mean I try to like no I'm sure you get it with people and trolls online like even to just the art of like trying to stay silent during certain things. Like saying one wrong thing can ruin the business like just being able to keep your cool and composure like that's an art. That's something that we need to do because we're also representing LSU and that's hard.”
She shared an instance that deeply annoyed her, relating to her featuring in the docuseries “The Money Game”, stating (20:31 onwards):
“One of the things that really annoys me the most is like especially on like the money game docuseries posts that I will post on my feed and on my Tik Tok people being like, ‘She doesn't deserve anything she has and that gymnastics isn't a real sport and stuff like that.’ Like, okay but would you be saying that if you were in my shoes. I did say that back to someone and they're like, ‘Oh you're right.’ Why would you not put yourself in my shoes? Like, why are you commenting that in the first place? Like, they need to zip it and throw it away.”
It is worth noting that Dunne often responds to trolls with humor, never shying away from hitting back.
