"Playing with people I never expected to play with"- Former Nebraska star Lexi Rodriguez makes feelings known on 'crazy' aspect of being a pro athlete

The ex-Nebraska star libero, Lexi Rodriguez left a successful career at her collegiate level. The acclaimed libero has joined LOVB Omaha and recently shared her thoughts on playing with individuals she did not anticipate playing with.

Lexi Rodriguez, who hails from Illinois discussed multiple notions including her feelings of playing with other celebrated players at Omaha. She reflected on her journey and labeled it "crazy". She also opened up about her incredible experience of sharing the changing room with numerous stars. In a full press conference uploaded by Omaha World-Herald on YouTube, the libero, Lexi Rodriguez shed light on her journey as a professional.

“Yes for sure, I mean it's crazy being a professional and then playing with people I never expected to play with, is just a whole another story,” she mentioned [3:37 onwards]

There are many star athletes in the LOVB Omaha team including Jordan Larson, a four-time Olympic medallist and one of the most decorated players in the history of US volleyball, two-time Olympic medallist Justine-Wong Orantes, National Champion middle blocker Lauren Stivrins, and Annie Cesar among others.

Other prominent names are two-time Big East Championship MVP and outside hitter Jaali Winters, acclaimed outside hitter Vicky Savard, German Cup MVP and outside hitter Kimberly Drewniok, and three-time NCAA Champion and opposite hitter Audriana Fitzmorris.

More notable players are three-time European Championship medallist and setter Laura Dijkema, two-time gold medallist of Pan-American Cup and middle blocker Candelaria Herrera, outside hitter Madi Kubik-Banks, setter Gabby Blossom and outside hitter Amber Stivrins.

Rodriguez, who has concluded her collegiate journey with a long list of achievements recently thanked the fan base of Nebraska Cornhuskers with an affectionate message on her Instagram. She shared her thoughts with a profound appreciation for the program and the environment created by the support of the fans.

During her high school years, Lexi Rodriguez led her team to secure two State Titles and had a record for career digs. The four-time AVCA All-American, AVCA Region Player of the Year (2024), and all-time career leader in digs, Rodriguez started showing promise in the sport from a young age. During her junior season at Illinois, she was also named the Gatorade Player of the Year.
