Regan Smith helped Olympian Elizabeth Beisel during the World Aquatics Championships Budapest 2024 by sharing her Team USA kit with the latter. Beisel recently expressed her feelings about this gesture.
Smith concluded her 2024 season after competing at the World Aquatics Championships Budapest 2024, which commenced on December 10 and concluded on December 15. There, the American won two medals in the 100m and the 200m dashes. In the former event, she clocked 54.55s, claiming first place, and in the 200m, she followed Summer McIntosh to secure second place after clocking 2.01.00.
Amid this competition, she had lent her swimming suit to Beisel after the latter was looking for it to swim in the 4x50m freestyle. Almost a month after this, Beisel gushed over Smith's gesture, taking to her Instagram story and reposting USA Swimming's post, which shared the entire storyline that took place during the tournament, and wrote:
"Pleasure doing business with you 🤝"
In December 2024, Beisel took to her Instagram story, asking for an extra or old tech suit that she could wear for the 4x50m freestyle relay. Coming to her rescue, Regan Smith offered her assistance to the swimmer. Extending gratitude toward the gesture, the former wrote on social media:
"Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to announce that the tech suit has been secured thanks to @regansmith4."
Here is the post by USA Swimming that details the tech suit saga between Smith and Beisel:
Ahead of this championship, Smith proved her billing at the Paris Olympics, securing five medals.
Regan Smith opened up about the changes she faced during the Paris Olympics compared to the 2020 games
In an interview with the Swimming World magazine, Regan Smith compared her performances in the 2020 and the 2024 Olympic Games and revealed that she was not in her best form in Tokyo. Reflecting on the changes she observed in herself during the Paris games, she said:
“Truly, I don’t think there was anything that was within my power that I could have done to have a different outcome. I executed my races so well. I put up times that I was really proud of, and I had a really great mental relationship with the sport during that week, whereas in Tokyo, I was a complete disaster the entire time," said Regan Smith.
She further added:
"So I just saw so many improvements within myself, mentally and physically, with my performances and everything. So I truly did walk away from Paris being like, ‘Wow, I did some really cool things.’”
Regan Smith won two gold medals and three silver medals at the Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, during the 2020 Tokyo Games, she won three medals, including two silver and one bronze medal.
