Olympic silver medalist Jordan Chiles' mother, Gina, extended her heartfelt wishes to Skye Blakely and her family after Blakely sustained a leg injury during podium training and was wheeled off the arena at the ongoing US Gymnastics Olympic Team Trials 2024.
The top 16 finishers at the recently concluded 2024 Xfinity US Gymnastics Championships were selected to participate in the trials happening in the Target Center arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
23-year-old Jordan Chiles and her counterpart Skye Blakely were among the gymnasts on the list who were vying to secure their tickets for July's main event, the Paris Olympics 2024.
The gymnasts had reached the arena and were testing their routines in the podium training before hitting the mats in the actual trials, but events took a gnarly turn for Blakely as she got injured during her final event, the floor exercise. The Texas native fell on the mat after a pass and started crying.
She was immediately rescued off the mats by the Team USA medical staff. As per Associated Press reports, her status for the trials remains uncertain, as does whether she will be there on Friday for the women’s preliminary rotations.
Skye Blakely received widespread wishes for her recovery and best health. Joining in was Jordan Chiles' mother, who took it to X (formerly Twitter) and extended her best wishes to the Blakely family while being thankful to everyone reporting from Minneapolis.
"Seriously thank you to everyone reporting from in the arena. It was a rollercoaster of emotions and crazy podium training but seeing the next post updating Jordan's status helped me not lose it so much. This sport is hard and unpredictable. Praying for the Blakely family." Gina Chiles tweeted.
