Olivia Dunne has begun her pre-season cardio sessions after returning to her alma mater, LSU, for a fifth year. She posed with a reddened face at the gym ahead of the 2024-25 meet season.
After sweeping the 2023-24 NCAA Championship title with her Tigers team, Dunne will take the gymnastics floor for one final round of meets in 2024-25. In her recent Instagram story, Dunne held her 'first day of school' certificate boasting '2x Natty Champion'. She captioned her story 'last first day of school', implying her last year of eligibility at LSU. She posed with her dog Roux with the National Championships banner in the background.
Shortly after, the 21-year-old took to her Instagram story to update about her 'pre szn' cardio sessions, which seemingly left her exhausted.
"pre-szn cardio will get ya," she wrote.
In the following story, she snapped her teammates lying on the floor after a cardio workout at the gym.
In another story, she performed a floor maneuver and captioned it:
"5th yr upgrades?!"
Dunne competed in eight routines on floor exercise during the 2023-24 season, twice matching her career-high of 9.9. She also competed twice in the uneven bars and contributed scores to LSU's SEC Championship title win.
LSU earned the National Champions title for the first time in program history at the 2024 NCAA women's gymnastics tournament. Though Dunne didn't compete in the finals, she cheered for the team from the sidelines.
Olivia Dunne penned heartfelt note to her alma mater before marking her return for a 5th year
Earlier in July, the gymnast and social media star took to Instagram to announce her decision with the caption "not Dunne yet". The video featured her reading a letter to LSU fans with a montage of her journey playing alongside.
"Dear LSU, These past four years have changed my life."
"There’s something about putting on a purple and gold leotard. There’s something about competing in front of 13,000 screaming Tiger fans. There’s something about being pushed by your coaches to do your very best. And there’s something about being part of a team that made school history."
"No matter how many opportunities come my way off the mat, there’s just something about LSU. And that’s why I’m here to say, I’m not Dunne yet."
"Here’s to Year Five, baby."
Olivia Dunne will have a chance to add another National Championship title to her resume in January 2025.
