Simone Biles' father Ronald Biles hilariously noted that his screen presence in his daughter's eponymous docuseries was 'pretty shocking for an old man'. Ronald and his wife Nellie Biles attended the Paris Olympics to watch the 30-time World medalist in action.
Biles and her siblings landed in a foster home at a very young age since their biological mother suffered from drug abuse. During her stay in the foster home, Biles eagerly looked forward to the time her grandfather would visit.
"Whenever we had visits with my grandpa I was so excited. That was the person I always wanted to see walk in the foster home," the Olympian said at Dancing With the Stars in 2018.
Eventually, Biles' biological grandparents adopted her and her sister Adria. Since then, Ronald and Nellie Biles supported the Olympian's gymnastic endeavors and even built the World Champions Center, where she currently trains.
In the Facebook Watch series, Simone vs Herself, the 11-time Olympic medalist revealed her life took a turn for the better after her grandparents adopted her.
"I officially got adopted by my grandparents, it just set me up for a better route at life..."
At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, when Biles withdrew from the competition due to 'twisties', her parents were absent because of the COVID-19 pandemic protocols. However, the entire family graced the competition arena to cheer on the gymnast when she extended her Olympic medal tally to 11 at the Paris Olympics.
Following the Games, when the Biles family attended the Simone Biles Rising premiere in New York, Ronald and Nellie hilariously reacted to their stint in the docuseries. Impressed by how he looked, Ronald Biles said:
"Pretty shocking for an old man [to look good]."
Chiming in, Nellie Biles was also proud of her performance in her daughter's docuseries.
"Oh, I think I did a great job."
Simone Biles also agreed, lauding her parents for staying true to their authentic selves and navigating cameras well.
Simone Biles' father Ronald celebrated his birthday during the Paris Olympics
While watching the athletic events at the Paris Games, Ronald Biles, dressed in a Team USA t-shirt and trucker hat, showed off a dazzling chain featuring the iconic logo of Death Row Records, gifted by the iconic rapper Snoop Dogg.
Adria Biles shared the snap of his father holding the necklace in her Instagram story, captioning:
"Snoop gave him a chain now he don't know how to act. 75 looks great on you! Happy birthday I love you," she shared highlighting the humor and delight of the moment.
Biles also took to her Instagram story to share a picture of champagne glasses and a birthday cake for her father, while the family watched the track and field athletes in action.
