Suni Lee recently reacted to Simone Biles's social media post following the Team USA Women's Gymnastics team's dominating victory in the team all-around finals on Tuesday (July 30). The US Women posted a staggering 171.296 points to edge out Italy and Brazil comfortably and clinch their fourth gold medal in the history of the quadrennial event.
After the victory, the four-time Olympic gold medalist, Biles put up a post on her Instagram handle with a cryptic yet subtle caption. She uploaded an image of the Paris Olympics 2024 gold medal-winning US Women's gymnastics team with the caption:
"Lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions❤️🥇."
This caption was reportedly an indirect jab at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medalist, MyKayla Skinner's recent comments on Biles and the entire Team USA Women's Gymnastics team for the Paris Olympics 2024. In a since-deleted YouTube video, Skinner had remarked:
"Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn't like what it used to be."
These comments from the former American Olympian were not taken lightly by Biles and the 21-year-old Suni Lee, who was the star of the show on Tuesday in the vault exercises (14.566 points).
After Biles put up the post on Instagram, Lee was not letting Skinner's remarks slide either. She added in the comments:
"Put a finger down if Simone Biles just ended you."
Suni Lee celebrates Tea USA Women's Gymnastics fourth Olympic gold medal with a TikTok video
Following a dominant and triumphant victory on Tuesday, it was the time for celebrations for the Team USA Women gymnasts. Owing to this the team consisting of Simone Biles, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, Suni Lee, and Hezly Rivera created a TikTok video with bits of Kanye West's speech during the 2006 Grammys.
In the video, all five members of the team were seen showing off their gold medals with the background voice:
"Everybody wants to know what I would do if I didn't win. I guess we would never know."
After the conclusion of the team finals, the US female gymnasts will feature in the individual apparatus finals scheduled to be held in the upcoming days. Lee has qualified for three finals, all-around apparatus, beam balance, and uneven bars, the second most in the current US Women's gymnastic roster after Biles who qualified for four (all-around, floor, vaults, and beam balance).
