Coco Gauff recently garnered praise from Paris Olympic medalist Gabby Thomas following her victory at the WTA finals. The young tennis star clinched her first WTA title at 20 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
Gauff concluded her 2023-24 season with an impressive win after defeating China’s Zheng Qinwen with a substantial lead of 3-6 6-4 7-6 (2). The American tennis sensation outperformed the World No.2 Iga Swiatek in the group stage with a strong 6-3 6-4 lead.
Further, in the semifinal round, she bested the World No.1 and 2024 U.S. Open champion Aryna Sabalenka with 7-6 (4) 6-3, clinching a spot for the final face-off. Fresh off her career-defining victory, Gauff took to social media to express her joy and delight.
"I know tend to focus on “doubters/haters” but this one is really for all of my supporters," Gauff wrote. "Ya’ll held it down for me win or lose! I thank you for that. I see you and I appreciate you. And I know some of you are a little bit petty like me so it does feel nice to silence them for a bit."
The fellow American athlete, Thomas, who showed her dominance in three track events at the Paris Games lauded the tennis player and reshared Gauff's post, writing:

Gabby Thomas recently turned heads by featuring in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue for the 2025 edition following the incredible run at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Owing to her three-peat victory at the French capital, she was featured in the 2025 issue of the magazine.
The sprinter was seen donning a mustard-yellow swimsuit for one of her photoshoots. With the election waves taking over the nation, she was further seen sporting a blue swimsuit with "Vote" written on the back.
The American track athlete received praise from the young tennis star after sharing her pictures from the photoshoot. Gauff graced the comment section and posted a series of heart-eye emojis in one and penned a flattering comment in another, showcasing her awe.
Gabby Thomas clinched three gold medals in the 200m, 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay events, respectively, at the Paris Games.
