Quincy Wilson expressed his thoughts ahead of his feature at the 2025 VA Showcase at the Virginia Beach Sports Center on January 17, 2025. He is set to compete in the Boys Invitational 500m (Top 1 Section) scheduled at 4:35 PM (EDT).
Wilson is the defending champion in the 500m short track event, having bagged the title at the 2024 Virginia Showcase with a remarkable time of 1:01.27. Notably, this was also the second-quickest run by a high school athlete in the history of the event, only behind Will Sumner.
Ahead of his race at the tournament in the 2025 edition, Wilson expressed his thoughts with an inspiring Bible passage via an Instagram stories post, writing:
“Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. - Ephesians 6:10-11 NLT”
Earlier, on December 17, 2024, he shared a joint Instagram post, initially posted by VirginiaShowcase, announcing his commitment to the meet.
Wilson first rose to fame in 2024, owing to his impressive high school performances and later his sensational display at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, through which he earned his place at the Paris Olympics. At the quadrennial games, he became an Olympic gold medalist as part of the men's 4x400m relay team, although he didn’t compete in the final.
Quincy Wilson opened up on his favorite aspect of his college recruiting visits
Quincy Wilson reflected on his personal highlights from visiting the colleges recruiting him. In an exclusive interview with Citius Mag, the 17-year-old shared his favorite aspects of these visits and reflected on how the Bullis School, his current high school, has paved an excellent path for his future, adding:
“The photoshoot is probably the best part! Honestly, it’s just seeing how high school is [compared to] college and seeing that Bullis has set me up for a great pathway. College should be a smooth road for me because of what [Bullis] paved for me. If I come in the same way that I came in for high school, I should be very successful because they set me up really well.”
So far, Wilson has visited colleges such as the University of Tennessee, the University of Georgia, and Texas A&M University as he considers his options. However, he hasn't chosen on a college yet. He also shared glimpses of himself wearing the track college jerseys of these universities.
