Lindsey Vonn recently celebrated her foundation's ninth anniversary by hosting the biggest gala of the organization. The former Alpine skier started the organization to empower girls by giving them scholarships and assisting them in various aspects of life.
The American Alpine skier retired from professional skiing in February 2019 and since then has been actively participating, as well as taking steps to empower women to partake in sports. She began the 'Lindsey Vonn Foundation' back in 2015, and it has grown by multiple folds over the years, thereby creating a huge impact on society.
Lindsey Vonn took to Instagram to share a glimpse of the foundation's ninth-anniversary celebration. The former Alpine skier spoke about the struggles that they went through over the years and expressed that she was very happy with the impact that the foundation has had.
"Our biggest gala EVER!! 🙌🏻❤️🇺🇸 It’s taken a few days to catch my breath after an incredible evening! THANK YOU!! 🙏🏻Raising money of any kind is not an easy task and it takes so many people to make an event like this happen. Volunteers, donors, staff and of course our amazing ambassadors who spoke and told our mission so eloquently and with their hearts. Thank you!!" she wrote.
" Reflecting on our 9 years as a foundation; we have given over 1 million dollars in scholarships, created our own curriculum to empower girls, created our own empowerment camps, created an ambassador program to give community to everyone who goes through our programs, and started to scale our curriculum by implementing it into schools like the @wsspc.We’ve come a long way and it is all because of the support we have gotten from YOU! Thank you!!! 🙏🏻" she added.
Lindsey Vonn takes a step ahead for women's sports
Lindsey Vonn became a part of the Utah Royal FC, a franchise that made its comeback in the National Soccer Women's League earlier this year after suspending its operations in 2021. She made the surprise announcement right before the commencement of the league and expressed her happiness to be a part of the club's journey.
"I'm so excited to be supporting women and especially women in the Utah community. As someone that's been a member of the Utah community for a long time and also helping the Olympic bid for 2034, I'm so excited to have the Utah Royals back in the NWSL."
Vonn continues to be a part of sports after her retirement and hopes to be an active part in the rise of women's sports.
