Regan Smith opened up about her preparatory stages before the 2024 World Aquatics World Cup where she clinched a total of nine gold medals across the three stops.
Smith revealed that she didn't practice till the last week of August as she was on a break after the Paris Olympics. She also mentioned after coming back to the pool, she swam 2500m four times a week, which helped her gain momentum. She said (via Unfiltered Waters podcast, 22:55 onwards):
"It was great, it really was. After the Games I didn't do any exercises whatsoever, I'd say like till the last week of August. So that was solid three weeks off and then even the last week of August I was doing captain's practice with ASU, so we swam four-times that week and it was 2500m each day so we got our feel back."
Following the World Cup, Regan Smith also impressed with her performances at the Short Course World Championships, where she won five gold medals.
