Rhasidat Adeleke stole the limelight at the Monaco Diamond League after producing a dominant run in the 400m. She garnered the attention of fans by cruising to victory in the discipline, leaving behind some of the stellar athletes.
Adeleke recently qualified for the Paris Olympics 2024 after an exceptional performance at the World Athletics Relay. She helped Ireland qualify for the Summer Games by playing a vital role in the team's first-place finish at the mixed 4x400m relay heats, which directly sealed a spot for Ireland.
The 21-year-old also qualified for the 400m after winning her heat in 50.54s and bagging a silver medal in the finals of the event after clocking 49.07s at the European Athletics Championships.
The Irish sprinter ran another significant race in her Diamond League debut in Monaco on July 12. She stood atop the podium after recording her second-fastest time of 49.17s. Behind her was Lieke Klaver, who recorded a time of 49.64s, while America's Eliis Kendall secured third place after clocking 50.39s.

Rhasidat Adeleke opened up about her 400m win at her Diamond League debut in a post-race interview with RunnerSpace. She said she ran a "good controlled run" and was ecstatic after the win. She also opined on her form for the rest of the season.
"It felt really good, you know I felt like a good controlled run, very smooth," Rhasidat Adeleke said. "I'm really happy how that went; I think I'm on the right spot for the rest of the season, so yeah, I'm looking forward to how we can do continue that." (0:00- 0:20)
When asked about what she needed to improve between now and Paris, the 21-year-old said:
"Honestly, just keep training, stay focused, stay grounded and do what my coach tells me to do. Keep on top, everything, all the little one percentages that make up the rest of the 100% towards a good performance, so I just need to make sure I stay focused and all eyes on the Olympics."
