Simone Biles opens up on deciding to target the Paris Olympics after Tokyo disappointment
Simone Biles withdrew from the team event just before the finals at the Tokyo Olympics. This decision brought about a lot of criticism and affected her mentally. She opened up on deciding to compete at the Olympics despite all the criticism in the trailer of her documentary 'Simone Biles Rising'.
“I wanted to quit like 500,000 times and I would have if it weren’t for my people. I knew it would be a long journey, but to me, it wasn’t done. I’m going for another Olympic run, I never thought I’d be at this phase still doing it and I feel very grateful; I get to write my own ending,” she said (starting at 1:37).
Biles will be competing on Sunday, June 30, 2024, to confirm her spot in the U.S. Olympic gymnastics team.
