Dunne recently said that the LSU victory motivated her decision to return this year. In 2020, the NCAA announced that athletes who couldn't compete that season due to the COVID-19 pandemic would be granted an extra season of eligibility in their sixth year. Dunne is utilizing her extra year to compete this season. She hit a career-high score of 9.900 on the floor twice in the last season.

A week ago, she was still mulling over her final decision, but has officially announced her return now.

Dunne said her decision was based on her renewed love for the sport after last year's results.

“This past year I found a renewed love of the sport. I had trained a lot in the ofoff-seasonso I felt really strong and healthy from the start and ready to contribute. I really enjoyed the dynamic of the team this year and it all came together well. Winning the national championships was a great team accomplishment, but I feel like I have more to give as an individual competitor,” she said via (LSU Gymnastics)

As Dunne returns for her fifth year with renewed love, she will be eyeing to score her first perfect 10 of her collegiate career in the 2024-25 NCAA Championships. Her best scores were 9.900 on floor and 9.825 on uneven bars last year.
