The 2024 Seiko Golden Grand Prix took place at the National Stadium in Tokyo on Sunday, May 19. The World Athletics Continental Tour Gold level meet saw prominent Japanese track and field athletes compete against many top names from all over the world.
Tokyo Olympian Rose Davies achieved a new meeting record time of 14:41.65 in the women’s 5000m at the 2024 Seiko Golden Grand Prix, placing ahead of Kenya’s Margaret Akidor who clocked a time of 14:44.75. Meanwhile, reigning world champion Haruka Kitaguchi clinched the top position with a best throw of 63.45m in the women’s javelin throw event.
In the women’s 100m, the Oceania record holder Zoe Hobbs from New Zealand won the event in a time of 11.17s, ahead of Australia’s Bree Masters (11.31s) and Japan’s Arisa Kimishima (11.49s).
Australia’s Torrie Lewis, who had stunned American track sensation Sha’Carri Richardson in the 200m at the 2024 Xiamen Diamond League, came fourth in a time of 11.54s at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix.
