Serena Williams' husband and Athlos founder Alexis Ohanian reacted to Gabby Thomas' Forbes achievement. Thomas, who had an immensely successful season in 2024, made it to the Forbes 30 under 30 list.
Various other track and field athletes such as Mondo Duplantis, Tara Davis-Woodhall, and Hunter Woodhall have also been included in this list.
Ohanian, who worked with Thomas during the 2024 Athlos NYC, hyped up Thomas' achievement on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote:
"LOOK WHO'S ON THE @FORBES #30Under30 List — @itsgabbyt"
For her successes on the track, Gabby Thomas was also felicitated by the USATF (United States Track and Field) with the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Athlete of the Year Award a few weeks ago. She picked up the award ahead of high-profile athletes like Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Masai Russell, and Tara Davis-Woodhall.
Thomas had a few off-track highlights as well this year. She was the Grand Marshal for the 2024 NYC World Marathon Major last month.
Alexis Ohanian opened up about Gabby Thomas' contribution to the success of his debut Athlos meet
Alexis Ohanian opened up about Gabby Thomas' contribution to the success of his track endeavor, Athlos NYC. This came just a few days after the conclusion of the track meet on September 25 which saw impressive streaming numbers on X and YouTube.
Ohanian stated in an interview that Thomas clinching three gold medals at the Paris Olympics did play a pivotal part in the success of Athlos. He also added that track and field as a community has also 'captivated' the audience this season which has helped them get the recognition they deserve. He said (via Sports Rush):
"Obviously, Gabby winning three gold medals certainly helped, but track and field has captivated everyone this year, and you’re seeing these stars get a lot of the attention they deserve.”
Following the immense success of Athlos 2024, Ohanian also spoke about plans to curate another edition of the meet next season.
Gabby Thomas, on the other hand, added another feather to her cap by joining Michael Johnson's Grand Slam Track League. She will take part in the 100m and 200m races in the event that will feature various other Olympic medal-winning athletes such as Melissa Jefferson.
