Sha'Carri Richardson has expressed her gratitude to training partner Christian Coleman for cheering on her at the Falcons vs Cowboys game. The American sprinting duo recently started training together under Dennis Mitchel in Florida.
Both Richardson and Coleman competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics. While the latter didn't qualify for individual events, he was part of USA's 4x100m relay team. They were disqualified in the final after dropping the baton during the race.
Richardson, on the other side, was at her absolute best in the women's 4x100m relay final. She ran a blistering leg to lead the team to the gold medal after being in fifth place during the third exchange between her and Gabby Thomas. The Dallas native earlier earned a silver medal in the 100m dash.
The duo recently attended the Week 9 matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Falcons. As Richardson received a standing ovation from the crowd for her Olympic success, Coleman captured the moment and shared it on his Instagram story, writing:
"RISE UP!!"
Richardson reposted Coleman's story on her Instagram handle, writing:
"My step team"
Sha'Carri Richardson was honored with a hometown track named after her in Dallas
While Sha'Carri Richardson was an overwhelming favorite for the 100m title at the Paris Olympics, a bad start resulted in her settling for the silver medal in 10.87s, as Julien Alfred won gold in 10.72. She showed her true form in the 4x100m relay afterward, running a fiery leg to win her maiden Olympic gold medal.
The 23-year-old was honored for her Olympic pursuits following the games in her hometown with a track named after her in the Dallas ISD's Kincaide Stadium.
"I ran on this track. I can say I started my career on this track. So, for it to be named after me now, it's an honor. But it shows that I have a responsibility to Dallas. Where I come from continues to support me no matter how far I go. And I will never, ever, ever let people forget where I come from," she said (via wfaa.com)
Richardson didn't compete following the conclusion of the 2024 Paris Olympics. She will now be preparing to defend her 100m title at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo.
