100m World champion Sha'Carri Richardson recently received a special tribute from Nike for her heroics at the 2024 Paris Olympics. This comes just a few weeks after she concluded her 2024 track and field campaign at the Diamond League finals in Brussels.
Richardson competing in her debut Olympics clinched two medals, a silver in the Women's 100m event and a gold medal in the 4x100m relay. This was a major turnaround for the Texas native from her Tokyo Olympics campaign where she was barred from competing in the quadrennial event for consuming illegal substances.
To honor this special campaign, Nike arranged a special tribute for one of its most high-profile track and field athletes. In Richardson's recent Instagram story, the Texas native can be seen holding a black suitcase with Nike's emblem on it. In the picture, Richardson is seen flaunting an orange-shaded Nike wardrobe along with white sneakers.
Besides, the background of the picture consists of Nike's insignia and a short text referring to the 24-year-old's silver medal at the Paris quadrennial event.
Nike has been a long-time sponsor of Sha'Carri Richardson since 2019 and has also recently extended the contract till 2028. The 24-year-old was also seen donning special customized Nike wardrobes at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Sha'Carri Richardson receives special praise from legendary track and field athlete Gail Devers
Three-time Olympic gold medalist Gail Devers recently heaped praise on Sha'Carri Richardson for her knack of performing in big moments and in the face of adversity.
During a conversation, the former 100m Olympic champion said she is impressed with Richardson's story of growing as a track and field athlete. Devers said (via Pulse Sports Kenya):
"I’m always impressed with her (Richardson) everybody has a story and her story is one of resilience. When the chips are down, she finds a way to come back. She has support, and that’s what this meet is about- women bonding together, supporting each other. To be there for each other and to make it happen."
During the interview, Devers also reposed her faith in Richardson clinching a gold medal over the 100m distance at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Sha'Carri Richardson came agonizingly close to clinching the first Women's 100m Olympic gold since Gail Devers who won it 28 years ago in Atlanta.
