Sha'Carri Richardson recently visited her alma mater David W. Carter High School following the 2024 Paris Olympics and Diamond League meetings. She secured a gold and a silver medal at the French capital.
Richardson clocked a stunning time of 10.87 seconds to bag a silver medal at the Paris after settling behind Julien Alfred, who clocked 10.72 seconds. Her victory at the French capital is a significant career milestone given she missed the Tokyo Games.
Following the 2021 U.S Olympic Trials, Richardson was handed a suspension citing the consumption of banned drugs. This led to her missing out on the debut Games. A month after the Paris Olympics, the sprinter visited her alma mater David W. Carter High School on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, the American sprinter attended and graduated from David W. Carter High School. The Olympic medalist received a warm and grand welcome from the students, who were seen clicking pictures with her in front of a poster that read,
"Sha’Carri Richardson, The Path to Gold.“

"I will never ever let people forget where I came from" - Sha'Carri Richardson after being honored with the track named after her at John Kincaide Stadium
Sha'Carri Richardson was present at the Friday night game between Carter High School and Wilmer-Hutchins.
During her visit, the track at the John Kincaide Stadium was named after her. She was seen revealing the new signage at the Sha'Carri Richardson Track that featured her achievements and a quote from her,
"I’m doing it for everyone who looks like me.”
In an interview with Pulse Sports Kenya, she expressed gratitude for support and commitment to honoring the school and her roots.
“I thank you all for all the support and I’m proud to have come out of ISD, she said. "I’m proud to have come back and I must say I started my career on this track. To have a track named after me is a huge honour but it also means I have a responsibility to Dallas. I will never ever let people forget where I came from and that’s Dallas."
Sha'Carri Richardson also clinched a gold medal in the 4x100m relay race after running last leg at the Paris Games.
