Sha’Carri Richardson is one of the fastest 100m sprinters in the world, and she had an impressive run in 2024. Recently, the American shared a snap of fellow Team USA sprinter Christian Coleman, writing a cheeky message for the 28-year-old.
Richardson first rose to fame in 2021, when she ran a blistering sprint to win the US Olympic Trials. Soon after, she was handed a one-month suspension as she tested positive for cannabis, a controversial decision that further elevated her fame. Since then, the sprinter has gone on to claim a World Championship and Olympic gold, proving her mettle on the track.
In the midst of all this, Sha'Carri Richardson has kept her life away from the track relatively private, but fans have previously speculated that she is dating former 100m World Champion Christian Coleman. The rumors found further purchase recently, as the 24-year-old shared a snap of Coleman on her Instagram story and wrote,
“Da one 😌.”
Nothing has been confirmed by either of the athletes on the matter. Richardson and Colman have led starkly different years. While the former’s season saw her qualify for the Paris Olympics, Coleman, a three-time World Champion, failed to make it onto the team.
Sha'Carri Richardson shares a glimpse of her life after the Paris Olympics
Sha'Carri Richardson had a slow start to her 2024 season, competing primarily in the 200m, running at the Wanda and Shanghai Diamond League races. She finished second in the former race and third in the latter, clocking times of 22.99s and 23.11s, respectively. Richardson's first big win of the season came at the Prefontaine Classic, where she won the 100m race in a dominant fashion. She then went on to clinch gold at the US Olympic Trials to qualify for the Paris Olympics.
At the 2024 Games, the American was a favorite to claim the 100m gold but was outdone by Saint Lucia's Julien Alfred, forcing Richardson to settle for silver. A few days later, the sprinter won her maiden Olympic gold medal when she anchored Team USA to the win in the 4x100m hurdles. Post the Games, she competed at the Zurich Diamond League and the Brussels Diamond League Finals, finishing first in the former and eighth in the latter.
After her busy season, Sha'Carri Richardson enjoyed a well-deserved break from the track and shared snaps of her life after the Paris Olympics with fans. She captioned the Instagram post,
“life. Thankful for everything.”
Aside from enjoying some time off from sprinting, Richardson’s off-season has seen her appear on the cover of Essence Magazine, and launch her own hair extensions brand, ‘Flow&Go’.
