Sha'Carri Richardson opens up about how Gabby Thomas impacted her at the Paris Olympics

Sha'Carri Richardson recently revealed how Gabby Thomas motivated her to win the women's 4x100m relay gold medal at the Paris Olympics. The team had been trailing before Richardson received the baton, but she picked up the pace to take the team to a win. Crediting Thomas for the same, she said,

"I don't hear anybody else but Gabby. If it's not her voice, I can't hear it," said Richardson. "Everything else is a blur. Gabby’s voice automatically sends me into a place of determination and it sends me into a place of I know what time it is."

Richardson added that she was aware of how Thomas trusted her with the race, which gave her the energy to accomplish the win.

"I know she did her part. Now she is trusting me. Now she is believing in me. Now she is expecting me. She has every right to, because she did her thing to get me to go into a different phase, to continue to transfer that energy and that speed in which we did. So she gives me the stick."

The 2024 Paris Olympics women's USA 4x100m relay team, which included Richardson, Thomas, Jefferson, and Terry, also clinched the gold during the 2023 World Athletics Championship in Budapest.
