Sha'Carri Richardson crashed out of the podium positions and finished eighth at the Brussels Diamond League Finals in the women's 100m. Paris Olympics gold medalist Julien Alfred put forward a dominant performance by clocking 10.88s to clinch the title.
Richardson returned to the track after the Paris Olympics at the Zurich Diamond League and defeated the Olympic Champion, Julien Alfred after clocking 10.84s. However, the American athlete could not maintain her form in her next Brussels Diamond League Finals race.
After having a slow start, Sha'Carri Richardson could not catch up in the drive phase of the race and ultimately finished eighth with a performance of 11.23s, thereby clocking her slowest time in a professional race since 2022. Fans took to X to express their thoughts on the American athlete's performance.
"A good confirmation of her Olympics performance. Richardson was strangely off her game today," wrote a fan.

Sha'Carri Richardson spoke about handling the nerves of running races in fully packed stadiums and revealed how it gets tense leading up to the start after the crowd becomes quiet.
"It be so tense back there, everybody has to be so quiet and just so serious. I just be like y’all, like yes we gonna race each other, yes we gonna do what we do regardless but still relax, whoosah!" she said
Richardson will be in action in the women's 200m at the Brussels Diamond League finals scheduled on September 14, 2024.
