The three-time Olympic gold medalist, Shaun White, is all set to launch his new Snow League, which will start in 2025. This announcement from White came earlier this week, as he aims to revolutionize the sport of skateboarding.

America will host the first of the five events of the inaugural season of the Snow League in March 2025. The locations and dates for the other four events are yet to be announced. However, reports suggest that the fifth and final event of the league will take place after the 2026 edition of the Milano Cortina Games (February 6, 2026–February 22, 2026).

Recently, in an interview with a Forbes reporter, White opened up about his mindset behind launching a new skateboarding league. He stated:

“Everything we’re doing is very calculated. We want to do it correct. We don’t want to have to go back on something. We want to crawl before we walk before we run."

White further elaborated on the reasons behind the founding of the league:

"’l'll never forget getting to the end of the season and getting interviewed, and this person was like, ‘What an incredible accomplishment, what a season, but how does it feel not to be the world champion?’ In that moment I realized there’s such a disconnect in our sport—so many big events that don’t really feed into each other."

The addition of this league will be a huge boost to the circuit of snowboarding and freeskiing, as it will give snowboarders around the world a golden opportunity to compete against each other and become world champions.

Furthermore, the athletes who will participate in the league are providing enormous additional commercial benefits. The prize pool of Shaun White's Snow League is reported to be around 1.5 million USD, with some added remunerations for the top position holders of the league.

The top 20 male and top 16 female athletes on the circuit will take part in this Snow League, which comprises five events in a season. The athletes taking part in the tournament will be awarded points after every event based on their performance. The winner of the league will be decided after the fifth event based on the total points accumulated.

All the events from Shaun White's Snow League will be held over three days, with one for preparations and the other two for the competition.

White has enlisted some of the most seasoned executives in sports to oversee the league's administrative processes. Sandy MacDonald a former chief judge of the Olympics, will act as the head of the league, while Ian Warda, a former Vice President of Global Marketing and Consumer strategy, will be one of the executive officers of the league.
