Former American snowboarder Shaun White recently reacted to some US figure skaters revealing his name as a probable candidate to try out the sport. This came ahead of the US Figure Skating Championships' final day. The event was scheduled between Jan. 23-26.
Several US figure skaters were lined up and asked to name an athlete outside the sport they wanted to see on the ice. Several athletes named decorated Summer Olympians such as Simone Biles and Michael Phelps, a few of them also named White.
Team USA's Instagram handle shared this video along with the caption:
"Consider this as an official invitation"
White cheerfully reacted to the post with a five-word reaction under the post. He commented:
"GET ME ON THE ICE"
Team USA's Instagram handle reacted to the comment and wrote:
"@shaunwhite Worlds in Boston this March @usfigureskating"
While Shaun White hasn't had much experience with ice, he has made a name for himself in his snowboarding career on the slopes. He competed in five Winter Olympics for the United States, winning three gold medals. In the other two events, he finished fourth in both the 2014 and 2022 quadrennial games.
Shaun White opens up about the reaction he has received from the fans after the announcement of the Snow League
In an interview, Shaun White expressed his gratitude for the reaction from the fans after the announcement of his Snow League set to start in 2025. He said having NBC as the broadcast partner of the league further enhances the glory of the league.
He said (via Men's Journal):
"I'm so thankful it's getting the reaction it's getting. To lock in Aspen, a legendary mountain town, probably one of the most legendary, to lock in NBC as our broadcast partner, to show our athletes leading up to the Olympics and really tell their stories—gosh, that's an amazing thing.”
White's Snow League has raised an amount of 15 million USD from several investors. Notably, rugby player Isaiah Kacyvenski's Will Ventures is also one of the investors.
