However, the athlete has now stepped back from competing in the 100m event in Paris and will be replaced by Shashalee Forbes. The Jamaican track and field manager, Ludlow Watts, said that he cannot give any reason as of now. (As quoted by Reuters)

“She has given up her place in the 100 metres, all the information that we can provide is that she is not going to participate in the 100 metres.”

Track and Field Gazette shared the news on X and wrote:

"What on earth just happened????"

One of the fans, who was waiting for an anticipated clash between Sha'Carri Richardson and Shericka Jackson, said:

"Big blow to Jamaica. I was really looking forward to that battle between her Sha'Carri Richardson in the final," the fan remarked.

While another user said that Sha'Carri Richardson was a frontrunner for the 100m gold medal:

"The gold medal is Sha’Carri’s now. Undoubtedly hers," the fan claimed.
