Simone Biles' husband Jonathan Owens has credited the gymnast for motivating him to strive for excellence on the football field. The NFL safety has witnessed a steady rise in his career following their marriage in April 2023.
Owens went undrafted in 2018 and was later signed by the Arizona Cardinals. He spent most of his time as an injured reserve before being released in August 2019. The Houston Texans later signed the 29-year-old for the practice squad before promoting him to the active roster in November.
Owens failed to make a mark in his initial years and kept switching between practice and active rosters before a good season in 2021 solidified his place in the team. He spent the 2023 season with the Green Bay Packers before signing a two-year contract worth $4.5 million with the Chicago Bears.
Owens' wife and 11-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles has been a regular sight at Bears NFL matches in recent weeks and the safety claims she gives him feedback after the games. Speaking in an interview with Fox 32 Chicago, the 29-year-old said:
"Everyone else is going to drink the Kool-Aid and tell you how good you are but it's always about having someone who can you know bring you down to earth a little bit and that's how it's always been for me... She might tell me Ah babe I think you can make that. She doesn't know too much about football but she knows enough to like if she sees me slipping on something and you know you respect it." Owens further added that Biles being the greatest of all time in her support had a positive effect on his game and motivated him to put in more effort on the field.
"So just being with an elite athlete, like me being with her, it just motivates me every day. Like she is the GOAT in her sport and so I'm like some of that has to rub off on me. I just love having her there and it just gives me more energy and more effort, I'm like I want to impress my wife," Owens said.
Simone Biles sports a custom Jonathan Owens-Chicago Bears jacket at NFL game

Simone Biles received flak for wearing a Green Bay Packers outfit for her husband Jonathan Owens' first game with the Chicago Bears. However, the gymnast has since donned multiple customized designs in support of Owens and Bears when attending their games.
The 27-year-old was sported in a custom leather varsity jacket during Bears vs Packers on November 17. The black and orange jacket had the Bears logo on one side and read "CHI Town" on the other. Owens' jersey number 36 was stitched on the back while one of the sleeves read 'bear down'.
