"She's learning football now, so she's terrible" - When Simone Biles' husband Jonathan Owens spoke on how the gymnast was 'critical' of him

Simone Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, once shared how the gymnastics star provided him feedback by pointing out areas for improvement after beginning to learn about his sport. Notably, Owens is recognized for being a football safety and currently plays for the NFL team Chicago Bears.

Owens revealed this during the Texans Players show, while he was a part of the Houston Texans football team from 2019 to 2022. In a conversation with Deepi Sidhu and John Harris on the show in December 2021, he was asked how having a significant other who is equally competitive affects him. He replied (starting at 34:41):

“You annoy each other sometimes for sure because you both want to be right, you know what I mean? Or like, you're like, ‘I can't be wrong,’ you know? You’ve got to prove your point. But it'll be just small stuff we'll compete on or we'll just randomly do like, ‘We're gonna do a staring contest.’ If I lose, she'll still start talking smack to me like, ‘Look at you, look at this man,’ you know what I mean?”

He added how after learning about football, Simone Biles offered constructive criticism to him such as reacting faster to certain situations, saying:

“So it's fun, but like I said, it pushes me just because when I'm out there doing my thing on the field, I want to be the best. I want to push myself to perform like it, you know what I mean? And I know my girl’s gonna be critical of me. Because everybody always tells you how good you do, you know what I mean? But she knows, and so she'll be the one like, ‘I don’t know.’ She's learning football now, so she's terrible like, ‘I feel like you could have, you should have reacted a little faster right there.’"

Jonathan Owens accompanies Simone Biles at Gold Over America Tour 2024 due to Chicago Bears’ bye week

Jonathan Owens and Simone Biles were in a long-distance relationship due to the scheduling of Chicago Bears and his wife’s 2024 Gold Over America Tour’s shows. However, Owens took some time off during the team’s bye week and joined 23-time World Championships gold medalist Biles on her tour.

During the tour, Owens accompanied Biles to multiple shows’ stops, dine outs, and rehearsals. Owens also spent quality time with his wife after getting reunited with the seven-time Olympic gold medalist.

The tour, which began on September 17, is currently on a break, with no events scheduled from October 22 to October 26. It will resume on October 27 and conclude on November 3.
