Part 2 of Simone Biles' Netflix docuseries, Simone Biles Rising, is set to release on October 25, 2024. The series' director, Katie Walsh, unveiled the gymnast's personality while competing at the Paris Olympics.
Biles had a successful 2024 Summer Games as she won four medals, of which three were gold and one was silver. She won her first gold in the team all-around event, where she and her team scored 171.296 points, trouncing Italy and Brazil, who claimed second and third place, respectively.
She bagged her second gold in the individual all-around event, earning 59.131 points, and stood atop the podium for the third time in the vault exercise after scoring 15.700 points.
The 27-year-old won a silver medal in the floor exercise after registering 14.133 points, where she was trounced by Rebeca Andrade, who secured first place. Suni Lee shared the podium with them after securing third place in the event.
While Simone Biles was achieving these dominating triumphs at the Paris Olympics, Walsh was noticing the American gymnast's personality the whole time for the docuseries.
In a recent interview with Fox News, Walsh unveiled the competition mode of the gymnast. Along with this, she also spoke about the fact that Biles was absolutely comfortable being herself in front of the director, which eased the entire process.
"I think that the beauty of our relationship is that she feels comfortable to be who she is in whatever moment," Walsh said. "So, we were with her as she was getting ready her final moments in a hotel room before she was leaving to go compete, and the tension, it was very tense."
"And I am so grateful that she let us in for those moments, because those are hard moments to allow just other people into your space, and she did. We were able to just be there, and it's never a negative thing with her. She's just sometimes really serious and really intense because she's about to compete."
Lauding the gymnast's skills, Walsh added:
"I could really just marvel in what she's able to do when you're really up close, and you see how high and how fast and how tight she spins, I mean, it's like you're like, yeah, no I definitely cannot do that."
Katie Walsh opened up about how Simone Biles handled the pressure at the Paris Olympics
In the aforementioned interview, Katie Walsh revealed how Simone Biles managed to keep herself 'collected' during immense pressure at the Paris Olympics. She said that despite the pressure during the competition, she did her best to manage all the expectations and called her the face of the Olympics.
"She was calm, cool and collected. But I'm sure she was feeling the pressure. I think it would be impossible not to. As much as she does her very best, and has done a really good job of managing all of the outside expectations and sort of tasks on her, she's still the face of the Olympics and everyone was there to see her compete and everyone was there to just see her, period," Walsh said.
Simone Biles became the most decorated gymnast after her medal tally went to eleven, out of which seven are gold, one is silver, and two are bronze.
