"Junelle being Jamaican and having trained in MVP, I have been getting the drama from the Jamaican camp at least five years now. There is a lot of times where I make references about Jamaicans but I am not trying to go back and forth, like I know information that other people don't."

This statement irked Bromfield's fans, especially the Jamaican ones, who abused the athlete online, highlighting the controversy. Days after this, Junelle Bromfield opened up about receiving support from Fraser-Pryce during the Paris Olympics. In a recent interview on the Sim Soul Sessions podcast, the athlete spoke about her encounter with Fraser-Pryce at the Olympic Village and said:

"The support actually really really, I wouldn't say it surprised me because I have a good relationship with a lot of the athletes but when I just got to the village cuz the way the internet was behaving, I did not know how I would be receiving the moment and when I got there, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was the first one to be like, 'hot girl Junelle,' and she greeted me just like normal," Junelle Bromfield said. "Every night in my room would be full, you had Ackera Nugent, every morning coming to pray, she's sending prayers. Sasha Lee was in there, was my roommate and she was just amazing like my teammates, talking about my teammates made me emotional because they were just there every night."
