Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce shared her admiration for Don Wehby after the announcement of his retirement from GraceKennedy Limited. Notably, Fraser-Pryce has been the organization's ambassador since 2008.

GraceKennedy made public about CEO Wehby’s retirement in a press release on Tuesday, January 14, following his earlier decision to take a temporary leave from the role to focus on his health. Having served GraceKennedy since 1995 and chosen as the CEO in 2011, the 61-year-old will formally retire on February 14 from the Board of Directors.

The 38-year-old took to Instagram to honor Don Wehby for his contributions. She expressed her admiration for Wehby in the caption and shared several pictures of the two, adding:

“For the past 17 years, being a Grace Kennedy Ambassador has felt like being part of a family, a family led by @dongwehby , an incredible leader whose impact on the company and me personally has been extraordinary."
"No matter the changes or challenges, Mr. Wehby and the Grace team have always extended care, love, and support to me throughout the years. Whether celebrating milestones or overcoming hurdles, the sense of unity and belonging has been a constant source of motivation.”

The five-time 100m world champion further mentioned:

“Mr. Wehby’s vision for community engagement deeply inspired me. Witnessing his dedication reinforced my commitment to my foundation. We would not have been able to touch the lives of so many children through the Pocket Rocket Foundation without the Grace Kennedy partnership."
"Mr. Wehby, your legacy speaks volumes and will serve as a lasting blueprint for Grace Kennedy for years to come!”

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce went on to express her gratitude to Wehby and wished him good health as he approached retirement.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce reflected on being regarded as a hometown hero in Jamaica. In an interview with Black Enterprise in June 2023, she expressed her pride in representing Jamaica, starting at 2:38:

"I definitely feel good. I think, for me, especially coming from water holes as a young girl who didn't know where she would end up in the future, to be able to be one of the icons of our country is really phenomenal."
"Being able to give inspiration to other young girls who are coming from a similar situation that I was, or even those who have been able to relate to where I'm at on my journey - whether it's on motherhood, whether it's on age, or a lot of things - so being able to drive that here in my hometown.”

She further emphasized the importance of prioritizing Jamaica and added that success on the international stage can still be accomplished despite the limited resources available.

Fraser-Pryce also shared during the interview that with proper training and guidance from the right coaches, athletes can put Jamaica on the world map.
