Competing in her final Olympic Games in Paris, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce featured in the women’s 100m, clocking a remarkable time of 10.92s in her heats. Unfortunately, Fraser-Pryce did not compete in the semi-finals due to an undisclosed injury, missing the chance to medal in her last Olympic appearance.
Meanwhile, Dina Asher-Smith competed in the women’s 100m but exited in the semi-finals with a time of 11.10 seconds. After the race, she expressed her disappointment during a post-event interview, stating:
“I feel like I am in a great place, great shape, I am very, very disappointed. It’s frustrating, full stop…I fully know that I am capable and fully know that I should have been able to produce. I am shocked and disappointed.”
However, Asher-Smith bounced back strongly in the individual 200m, where she narrowly missed out on a medal as she finished fourth with 22.22s. She played a crucial role in Great Britain’s silver-medal win in the women’s 4x100m relay where the team achieved a time of 41.85s.
